So, about 3 weeks ago, my tooth started aching badly and it was weird as my general mouth health is on point. Especially after I paid my dentist a visit at the beginning of the year and after she told me everything was in a good shape. It could only be related to the accident I had about 5 years ago when my jaw broke and it literally split in half and two of my teeth nearly fell out- it was gruesome- I thought I was going to be deformed for life. Thank God, I didn’t. *all smiles*
As usual I kept rinsing my mouth with warm water & Himalayan salt after I brush my teeth and hoped for the best, but the pain didn’t go away and suddenly I had the urge to make my own mouth wash. I stopped using mouth wash for a while now as it started eating up my gums, so I’ve had to rely on the Himalayan salt rinse for a while. The new mouthwash is amazing and after a day the pain was gone and now I’m in love with my mouthwash. It gives you a pleasant burning sensation just like the real mouthwash does, but only better and spicier. I’ve also noticed my teeth getting whiter and cleaner and my gums healthier. I haven’t had a single pain since I started using my miracle mouth wash. #happydays
1 teaspoon of fine salt ( preferably Himalayan salt)
1 teaspoons of black pepper powder
1 teaspoons of cinnamon powder
Here’s what I made….
It really depends on how spicy you want it, so it’s up to you if want to increase the amounts. Try it and find your own perfect mix. The spicier the better! I sometimes put more black pepper when I want it stronger. You can keep adding warm water to your mix and also add more black pepper and cinnamon if you like it strong. The stronger the better!!
Mix all the ingredients together with warm water and rinse your mouth after you brush your teeth. You can also use it anytime you want- even in the middle of the day. There are no rules here.
The antibacterial property of black pepper helps to fight against infections and as a result it reduces pain and inflammation in your gums.
Cinnamon is effective against gum infection mainly because of its antifungal and antimicrobial properties. It’s been used for years to heal gum infections, which I think is why there’s a cinnamon gum- my childhood favourite chewing gum. The warm water along with the salt helps to pull “fluid” out of the gum tissue, therefore reducing swelling, alleviating pain, and killing harmful bacteria.

Quote of the day!
“Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” – Coco Chanel
A sensitive topic that gets people into arguments, hate, resentment and disappointment and the cliché saying of all time “expect nothing to avoid being disappointed”! ohh really? I’d say expect away and get disappointed anyway. It’s part of life and part of who we are. It’s not something you simply can switch of.
Bruce Lee has once said “I’m not in this world to live up to your expectation and you’re not in this world to live up to mine” and this is exactly how I want to live my life. And I’m safe to say I’m doing well on this. Giving, just because I feel like it and not expecting anything in return. It’s not easy but, it’s the journey that I’m on. I’m working to better myself each and everyday and I’ve also read few books on self-development; and I will keep reading them. But the truth is, we’re humans and whether we do things expecting something in return or we don’t, we’re bound to feel disappointed when the love or the favour doesn’t get returned. Don’t blame me- blame your heart and the way we’re made. And if they say why why?- tell them that is human nature- just like MJ said!
Though, I’m trying to live my life according to Mr Lee’s quote above, it’s been challenging for me when it comes to letting people be. I don’t know if it’s a problem but I always see the good in people and it takes me a looooong time before I can say enough is enough and move on. I choose to see the good in people and always expect them to do better and be better. But I always get disappointed when they don’t live up to the expectation and the better image I have for them. See! I’m still expecting but I honestly don’t want to. Because, I figured everyone should be free and we cannot expect anyone to see life the way we do and expect them to think like we do. I’ve learned that we cannot expect them to be who we want them to be. Just as much as we don’t want them expecting us who to be.
We’re always going to end up resenting the people who make us do the things we hate doing and tell us to live our lives their way. And they’re always going to resent us for not fulfilling their wish. So if this is the case, why can’t we live FREELY ever after?!
The gorgeous Lisa Nicholas said, “ if you expect me to be the next Oprah, I will disappoint you massively, so let me just be Lisa Nicholas”
In a world full of expectations, just be!
In a world full of expectations, just be. You’re going to disappoint friends, parents, teachers…etc and you will never be perfect, and they’re also going to disappoint you. The sooner you get this the better. It’s about time we find peace with it but remember as long as you don’t disappoint you, honey! You’re good.
If you’re kind, be kind- don’t change because that one person is not being kind to you. If you’re crazy, be crazy! Don’t change because they want someone who’s boring. You are and should be loved the way you are.
I hope in the process of it all, you do not let anyone else’s expectations direct the course of your life.
Peace and Harmony
No rose water? No problem! We can now use rice water as a face toner/cleanser!
That’s right you heard me right! Rice water is a great substitute for your regular toner and helps in reducing the size of the pores on your skin. It made my skin so clean and super smooth, my skin glows after I use it; and it definitely helped my pores shrink too. I love eating rice and I guess my skin loves it too. Happy days 🙂
There are 3 different methods to make it: boiling, fermenting and no-boil quick method. I use the no boil quick method and I sometimes use the boiling method as well when I want to add in extra flavours or things- in this case orange peel.
A cup of any rice and 2 cups of water. I use brown rice and the beauty of it is that you get to choose the type of rice you want to use. *wink* *Wink*
No boil quick method: First rinse the rice with about a cup of water to remove any dirt or impurities. But don’t over clean it- just rinsing it once is enough. If you wash it out properly, you’re going to lose all the goodness we’re after. STOP IT! Once you rinse it, place the rice in a bowl and cover with a cup of water. Let the rice soak for about 45 minutes. Swirl it around every 5 minutes until the water turns cloudy. Done!
The boiling method: You can also boil the rice to extract rice water. All you need to do is boil the rice using more water than you would normally do. Once it starts boiling take out the excess water, let it cool and use. This rice water will be very concentrated, so make sure to dilute it with plain water until it is just slightly cloudy.
Fermenting method: this is where you get to leave the rice soaking overnight. I tried fermenting it and boy is it a long process or what. FORGET IT!
Mine has that yellow-ish look as I put orange peel in it. I boiled the orange peel with the rice for 5 minutes and this is what gives it that orange color.
How to use it:
Dip in a cotton pad into the rice water and gently massage your skin with it for a minute. Use this every day- morning and evening after you wash your face. You can also use it to cleanse your skin after you use a mask. Don’t worry if you skip a day. I do it too.
Storage: you can store it in a fridge for up to a week and make sure you shake it well before using it. I keep mine for 7 days maximum. Please bin it after day 7, it starts to smell funky and I don’t trust it.
Rice water also has moisturising, antioxidant, and healing properties that help to improve circulation, prevents or fade age related spots, and ease inflammation to give you healthy, better moisturised and clear skin. As long as it’s left on the skin, rice water is even believed to offer mild protection from the sun.
The abundant vitamin C and anti-oxidants in orange peels prevent your skin from getting too oily or dry. When applied to skin, they also work as a toner, removing dead cells and dirt and tightening pores.
Although it’s generally okay to eat the skins of fruits, I advise only doing so with organically farmed fruit. Why? Most farms spray insecticides to keep pests away. These insecticides remain on the fruit skin and may even penetrate deep into the flesh of the fruit. When consumed, the effects can be ugly, especially for children. Organic fruits have a lower risk, though you should still make sure to thoroughly wash them before consuming.
After you’re done with the rice, you can still make a good dish out of it. Don’t throw it away.
Quote of the day!
Hello dear readers
Well, I have an amazing recipe to share with you all. I’m calling it the ultimate hair smoothie!
For some odd reason I started losing hair- it was after my protective style so maybe it had something to do with it. This hair mask literally revived my hair and stopped losing hair since.
The ingredients are what we have at home- well, most of them. If you’re like me naturalista then you’d have them all. If not then take notes honey! 😉 My theory is to work with what we have and make the best of what we have. We have what we need, we just need to open our eyes and look outside the box and voila! we’ve made something out of nothing. As you may or may not know my mission is also to work with less chemicals if not avoid them completely. Our body is full of toxins which is why we need to avoid using chemicals and detox regularly. But that’s another subject for another time.
Let’s get to work!
Why you should do it!
Eggs are rich in protein and since hair is composed of 70 percent keratin protein it helps rebuild damaged hair by filling in weakened spots along the hair strand and prevents hair loss.
Spirulina is being widely used for promoting hair growth and to combat hair problems like thinning hair and baldness. Henna helps prevent dandruff, nourishes your scalp and cleanses dirt. It’s a great conditioner for your hair and adds shine and volume to it.
Yoghurt reduces hair fall and treats your scalp. You need yoghurt as it’s the main liquid ingredient holding all of your other ingredients together- the glue! Castor oil is good for hair growth as it helps increase circulation to the scalp. It works well against dandruff and scalp infections.
For this special hair smoothie we need:
1 egg- if you have a lot of hair 2 eggs
2 tablespoons of spirulina powder
4-5 tablespoons of yoghurt
1 and half tablespoon of henna
1 tablespoon of castor oil ( it’s very thick so don’t use more than this)
1 tablespoon of olive oil
First mix the yoghurt with your eggs and add your henna. Then slowly add castor oil and then mix well your spirulina powder into it and finally add your olive oil- preferably extra virgin oil and marry all your ingredients well.
Apply on your scalp and hair strands too- keep it on for 3 hours. Make sure you put a plastic bag on to lock heat. Wash it off and the result is AAhhmazing!!!! You’ll notice the results immediately. My hair was so clean it actually made that sound your teeth make when they’re squeaky-clean. The hair was well moisturised and soft but still has volume. This mask can be used as natural shampoo, so no need to wash it with a shampoo afterwards. No chemicals and we’re winning.
After your wash you can rinse it with rice water, apple cider vinegar and water rinse, camomile tea rinse or green tea rinse. Will talk about this in the near future. Till then stay tuned!

For every disciplined effort there’s a multiple reward- Jim Rohn
Well, hello dear folks
Recently I have been experiencing a back pain and I’ve noticed this only happens when I go on holidays. The reasons could be endless but I suspect it could be because I stop stretching and exercising at all, apart from walking endlessly trying to discover as much as I can. I hear you say walking should be enough for exercising but it’s not good enough as you only move the same muscles and forget about the rest. Common sense!!! I love site seeing too. Good! I hear you say, but it could also be a problem if you don’t rest up properly and don’t do your stretching. My love for walking and site seeing didn’t marry up properly without stretching. Usually I do yoga in the mornings before going to work and if I start feeling back pain I stretch like there is no tomorrow, but carefully as I don’t want to pull any muscles out of their resting place. *sigh*
Yoga is one of the best things that I have ever discovered. It’s well underrated and underestimated. I discovered that the perception of it is very wrong. Though it comes from the Buddha, it doesn’t necessarily mean you worship Buddhism if you practice yoga; and this is what most people think. Another perception is that yoga is just sitting down pointing your fingers and humming. WRONG! I thought the same, before I actually discovered the real deal. Not only it’s good for stretching, but it also helps with your core strength and with toning up. It thought me how to breathe, how to balance, listen to my body and relax.
I went to see a doctor as the pain was excruciatingly painful; and guess what she told me to do? Stretching! That’s right. You guessed it or not.
The reason why I wanted to share this is ‘cos I wanted everyone to get used to stretching and exercising even if it’s a little bit. Don’t ignore your body! If exercising is a bit boring for you and you’re not cut out for it- then dancing is always an option as you move every muscle of your body and is the best exercise one can get. If dancing is out of question, then you either need to think about it or find something else you can do that can move your muscles. You don’t have to spend hours doing it- 30min a day is enough. If dancing isn’t good either, well then- you need help!
Having said that though, we also need to watch what we eat and be careful about our diet. I have realised HEALTH IS THE BIGGEST WEALTH! I think this was a wake-up call for me. Don’t underestimate it. Spend a little cash on your wellbeing. Go crazy! don’t be shy! Go to sauna or have a SPA day if you can. Instead of spending it on alcohol or a big night out- spend it on your health. See it as a long term investment. You will see you’ll feel better and refreshed after and money well spent too. The bottom line is you need to treat your body with respect- if not then it won’t respek ( with Ali G’s voice) you back.

Peace and Love! till next time 😉
Dear readers, as promised here’s some facts and my personal experiences on Epsom salt and why we should always have it at home and use it. Epsom salt is not actually salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate.
Epsom salt is a miracle I’ve discovered by accident. I was just looking to get any type of dead sea salt as I’ve read it’s good for our health and skin too, but instead I found Epsom salt and boy do I love it!!! So far, no regrets and money well spent. It has so many uses and benefits but we’re going to focus on health today.
Here are some health benefits of the miracle salt:
· Relaxes the nervous system
· Cures skin problems
· Soothes back pain and aching limbs
· Eases muscle strain
· Draws toxins from the body
· It boosts magnesium levels- will talk about magnesium next time
· Reduces pain and inflammation
How I use it?
There’s different ways of using Epsom salt:
1: On a damp skin you can start rubbing a handful of Epsom salt gently ( don’t be too harsh on the skin). Leave it until it dries which takes about 2 minutes. Your skin will look ashy so don’t be alarmed by it. Then was it off. This process easily removes dead cells helping your skin look healthier and feel softer. You will feel a little itchy until it dries, but it will go away as soon as you wash it- so be patient, it’s not burning your skin.
2: You can make a body scrub as shown below. All you need is about 4 tablespoons of epsom salt, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a lemon/lime zest with or without the juice. Massage it on your skin gently and rinse after 2min. Your skin is going to thank you for this.
3: You can have a bath with it or even add a bit of baking soda for extra muscle relief after a workout. Trust me, this is one of the best things I’ve ever discovered. I soak for about 30minutes and the skin does not get wrinkly at all. I take a glass of water with me to drink when I have my bath. Make sure you finish your water, you might feel dizzy if you don’t hydrate yourself when you come out. You’ll need about 2 cups of the salt for your bath. If you want to add the baking soda to it, first you need to transfer your 2 cups in a large plastic container then add boiling water and gently put about 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Be careful of the reaction as it gets fizzy. After it’s nicely mixed pour it on your bath water. You can add essential oils if you want to make your bathing experience extra special and relaxing. Lavender oil is perfect for this purpose and also if you’re having trouble sleeping at night.
4: You can soak your feet in it- the easiest way to absorb magnesium and keep your feet and body healthy. You will need about half a cup for this.
I’ve noticed that my skin gets softer and much more smoother after I use it. I’ve learned that we can absorb magnesium through our skin which most of us have deficiency of and I get so relaxed and feel very light after my bath. All the above 4 methods are effective but my favorite one is number 3. Some people also drink it but I’m not there yet.
Every time we work out, our muscles hurt; especially if we haven’t exercised in a while. But recently as soon I finish my work out I’ve been taking Epsom salt baths with baking soda and the next morning the pain is almost non- existent. No limping anymore, which means you can get back to your gym the next day if you wish to depending on how you feel. But remember not to abuse your muscles.
Where do I get mine?
I bought my first bag from a health store. I paid £4.50 for one kg but I went on amazon and bought 10Kg for £15- it don’t get any cheaper than that. Enjoy!!
Note: You should not take Epsom salt baths if you are pregnant, have exposed cuts or burns on your skin, or are severely dehydrated. People who suffer from cardiovascular disease should first consult a doctor before taking an Epsom salt bath.
Till next time, love and peace 🙂

What is spirulina?
A superfood algae packed with a lot of nutrients that are good for the body.
I’ve come across this golden dust (well, really the colour is strong lime green, but I’m still going to call it golden) almost two years ago. I have decided to buy it a year later and have been taking it since then- not every day though. I usually take it half an hour before a work out if I remember and it gives me a lot of energy. I’ve also noticed my dark circles getting lighter when I take it regularly. The taste is not pleasant but my argument is if you drink alcohol and you can knock back a shot- you sure can do this too. It’s really a superfood for the strong hearted. If you decide to buy it and you can’t drink it, don’t throw it away- it makes a perfect face mask.
The best way to take it is to mix it with lemon juice, apple juice or pineapple juice and take it as a shot. I normally take it with apple juice or pineapple juice- whichever I have at home. The reason I do this is because I tried taking it with water and it leaves an after taste which I don’t like. The recommended dose is one teaspoon and make sure you drink at least a glass of water after you take it.
Health benefits of Spirulina:
- It promotes cell generation, it helps wounds heal quicker, and makes recovery from illnesses occur faster
- It’s rich in vitamin A and this vitamin is exceptionally important for healthy eyes.
- Helps Improve the Digestive System
- Spirulina Helps the Body Detox Naturally
- It’s very high in iron, making it beneficial to those with anemia with reduced risk of constipation
- It’s a good source of protein: gram per gram more than beef, poultry, fish, and soybeans
- It has four times the antioxidant ability of blueberries
- 2800% more beta-carotene than carrots.
- 3900% more iron than spinach.
- Lowers blood pressure
- reduces Cholesterol
Where did I get mine?
You can get it from a health store like Holland and Barrett, but I got mine from Amazon about a year ago and still have it. I paid about £9 for 500g which I think is reasonable. A little goes a long way, trust me. Enjoy!
Cheers to a better health!

Well, hello lovelies! It’s been a while since our last chat. I’m back with a quick homemade avocado mask. Hope you like it 🙂
I have seen many beauticians make an avocado mask and so far, most of them waste a whole avocado to make it. Only to bin it later as it changes colour. I see people commenting and saying things like, “I’d rather eat it”, oh what a waste that was…etc..
So, I though why not make an avocado mask without wasting it.
without further ado this is how I make it:
Eat you avocado and leave a little bit at the bottom of it, just like this:
You will also need:
A teaspoon of honey, a teaspoon of olive oil and about 3 drops of lemon juice.
Mix all the ingredients together and apply on your skin. Keep it on for about 20min and then rinse. Use a small towel to wash it off. Make sure your towel is wet and please use warm water. Be kind to your skin.
